  • When nouns are used as adjectives, they must take the singular eg:
    A four-door car... a 12-foot wall.

    Export diversification in Asia has increased. 
    not  Exports diversification ...

    There are occasional exceptions, when it is usual to have a plural eg:
    the savings rate   human rights activists
